BASIC ENGLISH SENTENCE

1.     SIMPLE SENTENCE

	Ø  One independent clause Ø  Form :        S + V S and S + V S + V and V

 

2.     COMPOUND SENTENCE

	Ø  One independent clause plus one independent clause Ø  Form :        S + V and S + V Ø  The conjuctions in this sentence are FANBOYS
			For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So { FANBOYS}

 

3.     COMPLEX SENTENCE

	Ø  One independent clause + one dependent clause Ø  The conjunctions in this sentence are outside of fanboys : when, while, if, because, although, before, after etc.

 

4.     COMPOUND COMPLEX SENTENCE

	Ø  At least having one independent clause + more than one dependent clause Ø  The conjunctions in this sentence are Fanboys + outside of fanboys

 

5.     EXAMPLE

a.       Simple Sentence

·         I am bored

·         Alan and Isak went to Tawangmangu last holiday

·         The President of Republic Dominica announced the independent day of his country

·         Mahmud finally went to the library and lent some books

·         The photographs taken by Yusuf last night impressed the audiences

·         The man bringing some money from the bank is very rich

b.      Compound Sentences

·         The girl doesn’t come to school for her mother is hospitalized

·         The neighbor of mine and his wife have breakfast in the dining room

c.       Complex Sentence

·         Mr Habibie has been discovered the new discovery when he is young

·         Because of his sickness, he can’t join football competition in this season

·         Aan has been trying to forget her ex-boyfriend as much as she can although it’s hard

d.      Compound Complex Sentence

·         Aisyah was making a cake when her father came and finally they ate together in the living room

·         Fatimah was going to the market when her mother came so they went to the market together
