Simple sentence

-One independent clause

-Form :  S + V

            S and S + V

            S + V and V

Example : Mahmud finally went to library and lent some books.

            S = Mahmud

            V = Went, lent

Compound Sentence

-One independent clause plus one

Independent clause (2 independent clause)

FANBOYS (For,and,no,but,yes,so)

Example : The girl doesn’t go to school for her mother is hospitalized.

            S = The girl, Her mother

            V = Doesn’t go, is

Complex sentence

-One independent clause plus one dependent clause

Outside FANBOYS (When,while, if, because, although, if, before, after, etc)

Example :  I like the book that you bought  yesterday.

              S = I, You

              V = like, bought

 

Compound Complex sentence

At least having one independent clause + more then one dependent

Example : Aisyah was making a cake when her dad came last night and finally they ate together in the

living room.

            S = Aisyah, her dad, they.

            V = was making, came, ate.
