1.      Simple Past

Example :

Yusuf took a bath this morning.

2.      Past Continous

a.  when

b.  while

c.  Yesterday + specific of time (yesterday at 9 a.m.)

S + was/were + V-ing

example :

-  Mirza was singing a song when her boy came.

- Mirza was singing a song while her mom was cooking in the kitchen.

- Mirza was singing a song yesterday at 9 a.m.

3.      Past Perfect

a.  After + had + VIII, VII

b.  Before + VII, had + VIII

S + had + VIII

Example :

    I                                                           II

  have dinner                               go to bed

  had + VIII                                   VIII

-          Setelah makan malam, saya pergi tidur.

After I had had dinner, I went to sleep.

-          Sebelum tidur, saya makan malam.

Before Iwent tp sleep, I had had dinner.

4.      Past Perfect Continous

a.  For : duration time

b.  Since : specific of time

S + had + been + V-ing

Example :

The financial ministry had been announcing for an hour about financial problem when the president landed from Paris.
