The Articles (The and A/An)
What is an article? Basically, an article is an adjective. Like adjectives, articles can modify nouns.
English has two articles there are the and a/an.
1. A/An
We use A/An with singular noun.
We call a/an as the indefinite article.
a/an is used for modify non-specific or non-particular nouns.
We use a before none that begin with a consonant.
We use an before noun that begin with vowel.
Example :
- I see an airplane .
- You need a pen for writting .
*Remember, using a or an is depends on the sound that begins in the next word.
Example :  We need a universal opinion for this option.
* And use an for nouns that begin with a silent h.
Example : We took an hour for be there.
There are some example of the silent H :
- Human -  Heir
- Honest
- Honour
- Hour

2. The
The is used for specific  or particular nouns
We call the as the definite article that it refers to a particular member of a group.
Example : "Let's buy the vegetable," I mean a specific vegetable.
But if i say, "Let's buy a vegetable," I mean any vegetable rather than a specific one
We use THE with nouns modified by ranking or ordering expressions such as "the first", "the second", "the third", "the next", "the last", "the previous", "the following", etc.
Examples:
- This is the first day of our meeting.
- I know which one is the previous actor before it.
- Look at the following sentence .

We use THE with superlatives such as "the best", "the biggest", "the most important", "the least interesting", etc.

Examples:

- This is the best product in this market.
- He  is the most talented guy at the univercity .
We use The for names of the country, cities, collage, and something that have a plural name or adjective in the name.

Examples :
- The United Kingdom
- The State Islamic Institute of Surakarta
- The Univercity of Cambridge

*Comparative forms, such as "bigger", "better", "more" can be used with both A(AN) and THE and follow general article usage.
Examples:
- I have the bigger cat.
- He has a more expensive car than I do.
HOWEVER: THE is often used with comparative forms (bigger) rather than superlative forms (biggest) when comparing only two things. This is commonly used in phrases such as "the bigger of the two"
