ARTICLE
  DEFINITION AN ARTCLE
            An article is a word used before a noun that indicates whether or not the reference is to             a specific entity or entities or an unspecific one. There are only three articles, a, an and the. A      and an, the indefinite articles, are used to refer to a single and unspecified entity. A is used   with nouns that start with a consonant sound, as in a battery, while an is used with words that start with a vowel sound, as in an iPad. The definite, refers to a specific entity or entities. The         single entity may also be made up of multiple individual entities, as in, for example, the class of    1999, the Beatles or the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).
DEFINITE ARTICLE
·         The is used in the clothing of the definite article.
·         The use on a specific thing (or has been clearly explained before) include: the person (people), thing (object), or idea (thought).
·         This word is used before a countable noun (a noun can be calculated) or uncountable noun (a noun that cannot be calculated).
·         IMPORTANT: You can use THE with both singular nouns and plural nouns.
INDEFINITE ARTICLES
  • A or an use on indefinite articles.
  • The word clothing is used in things that are not specific or have never been described before, include: the person (people), thing (object), or idea (thought).
  • REMEMBER: You cannot use A(AN) with plural nouns because A(AN) means "one" or "a single"
EXAMPLE OF DEFINITE ARTICLE
Ø  There’s a girl in front of the bookstore. The girl wore boots.
Ø  The place that I just visited is cozy
Ø  I have a cat. The cat is black.
Ø  There is a book in my backpack. The book is very heavy.
Ø  Do you own a car? Is the car blue?
EXAMPLE OF INDEFINITE ARTICLE
Ø I need a phone
Ø Mark wants a bicycle
Ø Do you have a driver's license?
Ø That is an excellent book
Ø A man, a book, an umbrella
