SIMPLE SENTENCE : has
the most basic elements that make it a sentence : a subject, a verb, and a
completed thought.

COMPOUND SENTENCE : refers to a sentence made up two independent
clauses connected with coordinating conjunction.

shopping and went

decide to stay

Independent clause
is a group of words that can stand on its own as a sentence : it has a subject,
a verb, and is a complete though.
Dependent clause
is a group of words that also contains a subject and a verb, but it is not a
complete thought.
