ARTICLE (A, An and The)

Article is a word used to describe whether the object-specific or non-specific. article is located in front of the noun. There are two types of article:

1. Indefinite article
2. The definite article

1. Indefinite article, A and An is the clothing word used to describe objects or people in general and not specifically to those who hear or read only recognize the objects mentioned in general.

For example: Cinta has a cat. The cat is white cat and beautiful.

we are the first sentence above picture yourself with the new cats only, do not know what color the cat is, big or small, beautiful or ugly. in the second sentence, as described in more specific about the color, the definite article is used as a word clothing.

“A” used at the beginning of the noun that begins with the sound off (consonant song).

Example :        A boy

                        A table

While “An” is used for nouns that originally sounded vowel letters (a, i, u, e, o) such as:

Example :        She is an actrees

                        I have an umbrella

·          A or An put upfront name of nation and religion

Example :        She is an English girl

                        Ahmad is a Moslem

                        Robert is a Christian

·         A or An to an object (countable noun) who first called

Example :        My sister is a teacher

                        It is a pen of mine

·         A or An for an object that represents the other objects

Example :        A palm tree is usually very high

                        A cat can catch a mouse

·         A or An to replace the word "one"

Example :        I have been reading for one hour = I have been reading for an hour

·          A and An should not be used in the plural noun, and positions can only be held by one person only.

Example :        Oranges are very fresh

                        Mr. Taufiq is a captain of this ship

                        Mrs. Junaida is the headmaster of TK Mathlabul Ulum

2. Definite article “THE” is used for countable noun or uncountable noun. The following will be described in more detail regarding the use of the article THE:

a. for objects that have been raised or called before.

Ø  Rani has a book. The book is Grammar

b. for the first time a new object is called, but the object can be clearly known as described in a few words

Ø  The boy who called you yesterday is my brother

c. for the first time a new object called but the object is described in which it is located so it is known by the listener.

Ø  Where is Novi ? She is in the classroom

d. for objects that there is only one course

Ø  The earth goes around the sun

e. used in front of numbers that rank

Ø  She is always the first to come

f. used before the name of a musical instrument

Ø  I can play the piano

g. used before the name of a river or the sea

Ø  The Atlantic Ocean

h. used on the face of the country name and the name of the mountains that form the plural

Ø  The Himalayas

Ø  The Netherlands

i. used in front of the building name

Ø  The Nirana hotel

Ø  The cottage

Ø  The school

NOTE:

definite article “THE” should not be used in:

a. Nouns are not mentioned specifications or location

Ø  I like reading books

b. name of the country and a single mountain

Ø  Mount Fujiyama

c. street name and city name

Ø  On Pahlawan street

d. the name of the season

Ø  Summer

Ø  Winter

Ø  Rainy

Ø  Autumn

Ø  Spring

Ø  Dry season

e. name mealtime

Ø  Breakfast

Ø  Lunch

Ø  Dinner

The indefinite article (a / AN) had not been used for uncountable noun and noun-plural.
Noun probably did not need the article when the item referred to is to show the objects of the object as a whole.

Ø  Girls usually love flower

Ø  Milk is very good for maintaining our health and fit

Information :
"Girl" shows to all the girls in general. "Milk" shows on all milk without further explanation about the color brown or white, milk or breast milk.
